Over a decade ago, in 1996, The Prue Leith Group was established by Tiny Barnetson, Graham Ledger, Judy Dyason and Grant McLaghlan, all with extensive experience as owner/operator or as senior employees of boutique hotels, like Mount Sheba Hotel, Hulala Lakeside Lodge, Glenshiel Country Lodge and the Impala Inn in Palaborwa – all with the vision to educate young chefs to the highest professional level.
To achieve such a level of excellence, Prue Leith was born from the tiresome difficulty of sourcing international chefs from Europe, which was never a certainty whom would arrive until it was too late. Prue Leith was founded in this frustration, and the founders imagined creating a chef training facility that ticked all the requirement boxes on the list of food specialists excellence – today Prue Leith is the one name that is instantly and internationally recognized.
