Job expectations for our graduates are very good for a number of reasons. The first and most important is due to the quality of our education. We consistently see adverts for chef jobs entitled “Prue Leith graduates only”!
Secondly, due to the international reputation of our Patron, Prue Leith OBE, job prospects for our graduates are very good, both locally and internationally – and particularly the UK where Prue is a household name.
Thirdly, after lengthy discussions with Prue, who ran her School of Food and Wine for many decades in London, and other senior members of the industry in 1996. We decided to make the course 18 months long as we felt it was the perfect balance between getting the knowledge required absorbed by students, allowing for some practical experience and at the same time not holding them back from their careers for too long.
What this essentially means is that in the senior and final semester the students do a six month practical with five star quality establishments around the country, importantly, most of our students are offered a full time job at the establishment that they did their practical with.
