Placements - 3Commis Semester Industry Placements
At Prue Leith we believe in the importance of putting theory into practice as often as possible. It is for this reason that along with the intensive practical training which takes place at The Academy and in the Prue Leith Restaurant Kitchens, there is a third and final 6 month semester which comprises almost entirely of off site practical experience.
Over many years, The Academy has build very strong ties with most of the finest establishments in the South African hospitality industry. These venues and chefs have proven track records and all understand the requirements of a learning environment. Our students are afforded the opportunity to work in these real life kitchen environments in order to gain invaluable experience and insight into the industry they have chosen.
They learn confidence to work under pressure, speed, self motivation, and gain knowledge while at these venues. Two assessments are carried out by the managing chefs which are submitted to The Academy, in order for the students level of competency to be monitored and tested while away from the Academy. All of this will prepare the student for their final and all important Practical exam.
