Isabel Landsberg (HOD Hot Kitchen)
Why I teach
My passion is to create great food but also to use my experience from all over the country and the world to train young chefs for the hospitality industry. I enjoy seeing students getting excited about food. It is also a great privilege to see young people grow and do something they really enjoy. The hospitality industry is tough and it takes lots of dedication to become a professional chef. As a lecturer it is great to be part of this ever changing and growing industry. It is wonderful to be able to teach students to always believe in themselves, never give up, have fun and enjoy their chosen career. It is a blessing to be able to do something you really love, everyday.
How do you feel about the hospitality industry in South Africa?
We are such a colorful country with so many different flavours and cultures. It is great fun to be able to combine flavours from all our backgrounds and create great food. South Africa has so much potential and with well trained chefs we are not far behind Europe and the rest of the world.
