Schools for Cooking

Students at the Prue Leith Chefs Academy are supplied with only the best ingredients to experiment with from French frog’s legs to Italian truffles. This ensures that when they go on to work in top restaurants around the world, they are familiar with high quality tastes and textures. When it comes to other schools for cooking, the academy is proud of the fact that they are the only school of their kind to have their finance module delivered to their students by Chartered Accountants themselves. Their in depth kitchen management module demonstrates how to effectively manage stock, determine menu costings and calculate profit percentages. The full time culinary curriculum also covers hot, cold and pastry kitchens as well as specialist subjects such as Pan African cuisine, spice route studies and a Cape Wine Ambassadors course.

Students at the academy are also given the opportunity to put their newly acquired cooking schools to the test in the schools onsite demonstration kitchen and onsite restaurant, Prue Leith’s, which was also rated as one of the top 100 restaurants in South Africa.
