    Starting at the very beginning, this course is aimed at those who are intimidated by the mere thought of having to produce anything that includes flour and an oven. Within a few hours we will have you confident at baking basic cakes.

  • Course Outline

    • The science behind baking – understanding what happens in your oven.
    • Ingredients used in baking – understanding how they work together.
    • How to elegantly decorate your perfect bakes.

    Demonstration and preparation of:

    • Genoise sponge chocolate Swiss roll
    • Victoria sponge cake with butter cream frosting
    • Strawberries and cream scones for tea
    • Carrot & olive oil cup cakes with cream cheese frosting

  • Dress Code

    You will be working in a professional kitchen, so bring an apron/chef’s jacket, comfortable shoes and keep jewellery and make-up to a minimum and hair tied back.
