Chef Cooking Schools

As one of the top chef cooking schools we have been accredited as an approved City & Guilds centre (848309). This allows us to offer our students City & Guilds qualifications which are listed on the South African National Qualifications Framework (NQF). City & Guilds operates in more than 100 countries around the world with the three major hubs being London, Johannesburg and Singapore. With this accreditation our students have the option of gaining international experience and as such some of our graduates have had the privilege to work in the kitchens of renowned chefs  that includes Jamie Oliver’s, Gordon Ramsey’s and the Roux Brothers’.

Although we offer various courses and diplomas for food enthusiasts and would-be chefs, it is our Grande Diploma in Culinary Studies & Wine which is the optimum in culinary programmes. Based on the classical French method this course runs over a period of 18 months during which our aspiring new students will follow intense training that will provide them with theoretical knowledge and practical experience. The students begin their foundational training as 1st Commis before putting into practice all that they have learned as 2nd Commis with our in-house restaurant programme. During this semester they will be working in the various departments of our multi-award winning restaurant Prue Leith’s. Once they’ve graduated as 2nd Commis they will begin their external work experience as 3rd Commis before graduating with their diplomas in City & Guilds’ Food Preparation & Culinary Arts (7065) and Patisserie (7065). Well qualified and equipped with exceptional skills and knowledge gives our students the confidence to take on the demands of the industry with gusto.
