This formidable woman was born as Prudence Margaret Leith in South Africa but has spent most of her working life in the United Kingdom. She started a business supplying quality business lunches to the corporate industry in London in 1960. This company grew into Leith’s Good Food Limited with a turnover of £15 million in 1995. One of her other ventures was the opening of her Michelin starred restaurant in London in 1969.
Her incredible success and strive for quality food has led to a number of accomplishments, including being awarded with the Order of the British Empire.
In 1997 Prue Leith lent her name to a facility in South Africa where young chefs will be trained in all aspects of food preparation. This was a first for Prue, but has led to immense success with the Prue Leith Chefs Academy producing high quality chefs to restaurants, hotels and lodges across the globe.
Prue oversees the curriculum for the training programme and her wide experience in the food industry is easy to see when looking at the high quality chefs that are produced by this institution.
