Cook School

Unlike other chefs training institutions in South Africa, we at the Prue Leith Chefs Academy include an in depth finance module in our full time curriculum which is delivered directly to our students by Chartered Accountants. This module aims to teach them the importance of effective menu costings, accurate profit percentages and the maintenance of a stock management system. During this module students are also required to put together a business plan in teams after which many have gone on to successfully implement.

When it comes to the more appetizing side of our cook school curriculum, we provide our students with top local and international ingredients to experiment with. From foie gras to French frog’s legs and Belgian couverture chocolate, this allows our students to become accustomed with the kinds of five star tastes and textures that they will hopefully come into regularly contact with during their cooking career.
