The curriculum also covers hot and cold foods, pastries, Pan African cuisine, spice route studies, finance and kitchen management as well as an intensive course in Cape wines, making us the perfect place for aspiring chefs to begin their cooking careers.
The Prue Leith Group was started in 1996, while the Prue Leith Chefs Academy, previously known as the Prue Leith College of Food and Wine, opened it’s doors to students in January 1997. Our reputation as one of the country’s top chefs training institution is proof of our passion for food and high quality theoretical and practical education. Our course material is constantly monitored to ensure that we develop with the industry, keeping our students highly sought after on a local and international basis. Many of our students have gone on to start their cooking careers in highly acclaimed kitchens around the world after graduating from the academy.
Our onsite restaurant Prue Leith’s, previously known as the Odd Plate Restaurant, is also where our students are given the opportunity to put their newly acquired cooking skills to the test. Under the watchful eyes of our professionals, it is our students who cook up a storm in the kitchen, treating guests to both a visually tantalizing and deliciously tasty experience. Voted as one of the country’s top 100 restaurants, we have our students to thank for Prue Leith’s worldwide success which often has us receiving bookings well in advance from both locals and travellers all over the world.
