As well as receiving a high quality education at the Prue Leith Chefs Academy our students are also given high quality ingredients from around the world to experiment with in their cooking classes. From Iranian caviar to Italian truffles and Belgian couverture chocolate, students can enjoy cooking with a variety of local and international tastes and flavours. Our aim is to familiarise our students with such ingredients so that they may go on to work in 5 star kitchens with a full understanding of 5 star ingredients. The academy’s curriculum is based on the classical French method and also includes an extensive finance module so that students can grasp the importance of not only the food side of a menu, but the business side of it too.
The Prue Leith Chefs Academy is also the only chefs training institution in South Africa were this finance module is taught by Chartered Accountants. Part of this module requires students to put together a business plan and has even resulted in some of our graduates going on to successfully implement their business plans and embark on a business venture of their own.
