At our highly acclaimed cooking college in Johannesburg our students are given fine ingredients to experiment with. This helps them to develop an acquired taste for high quality textures and flavours so that when the go on to work in five star restaurants, they have a good understanding of five star ingredients. We are also the only chefs training institution in the country to have our finance module delivered directly to our students via professional Chartered Accountants. During this module students will learn how to estimate profit percentages, put together menu costings and create an effective stock management system. Students will also be required to team up and put together a business plan. After graduation we have seen many go on to successfully implement their plans and create a business venture of their own.
Full-time students get their practical experience in our fully equipped demonstration kitchen which is also home to onsite restaurant, Prue Leith’s. Voted as one of the top 100 restaurants in the country, it is our students who are left to give the guests a fine dining experience under the watchful eyes of our expert chefs. We have had many guests secure their table at the restaurant well in advance from all over the globe which is good a sign that our aspiring chefs are doing a superb job in the kitchen.
