The academy’s curriculum differs from other similar cooking school courses in the sense that not only do we teach our students how to master their cooking skills, but also how to run the financial side of a business which we believe nowadays to be equally important.
We are the only cooking school of our kind in the country were this module is delivered directly by Chartered Accountants with some of the topics covered including how to estimate profit percentages, putting together menu costings and effective stock management. When it comes to the cooking side of our curriculum, students are given only the finest of ingredients to experiment with. This helps them to develop an acquired taste for the kinds of high quality flavours and textures that they will come into contact with when working in top restaurants in the future.
At the academy students are given an on-hands experience when it comes to putting their newly acquired cooking skills to the test at our onsite restaurant, Prue Leiths. Voted as one of the top 100 restaurants in the country, it is our students who are left to wow the diners under the watchful eyes of our expert chefs. We have had many guests booking well in advance from all over the globe to guarantee a table at the restaurant which is certainly a sign that our student chefs are doing a good job.
