Spanish Week is underway at Prue Leith Culinary Institute!🇪🇸

As we prepare for a week celebrating the flavours and culinary culture of Spain, we are delighted to welcome Chef @cheffing_with_jazz, a tapas and Spanish cuisine expert, together with Angel Moreton from @e.spain_ and representatives from the Embassy of Spain in South Africa, @emb.pretoria, into our kitchens today and tomorrow.

Working alongside our students and chefs, they are sharing their knowledge, showcasing contemporary Spanish techniques and exploring the flavours, traditions and artistry behind Spanish cuisine and tapas.

It all leads into an exciting three days at Prue Leith: our five-course Taste of Spain Dinner on 1 October, our Spanish-themed Teachers’ Conference on 2 October, and the 1st Africa Tapas Competition, which we are proud to host on our campus on 3 October with @emb.pretoria and @e.spain_.

We are incredibly grateful to the @emb.pretoria, @e.spain_, @spainccsa, and @icex_ for being part of this special celebration of Spanish cuisine, culture and collaboration.

A wonderful week of learning, culture and Spanish cuisine has begun, and we cannot wait to share it with you!🇪🇸

This Heritage Day, we celebrate the Cape Malay koesister, a much loved South African favourite known for its soft, spiced dough, fragrant spices, sweet syrup and coconut.

These familiar flavours inspired our Koesister Crêpes, featured on our Spring Menu 2026 at Prue Leith Restaurant.

Enjoy Cape Malay koesister bites with delicate crêpes, fresh naartjie segments, spiced syrup, toasted coconut ice cream and naartjie dust, with the crêpes and sauce flambéed for a touch of theatre.

Celebrate these flavours with us in our restaurant, or recreate a taste of South African heritage at home with our Cape Malay koesister recipe.

Visit our website for the full recipe: https://www.prueleith.co.za/latest-recipe/celebrating-heritage-day-with-koesister-crpes-cape-malay-koesisters/

Happy Heritage Day, South Africa! 🇿🇦

It was, as always, an honour to host Valrhona and Wild Peacock on our campus for another exceptional day of pastry, craftsmanship and culinary inspiration!🍫

We had the pleasure of welcoming Chef Vicky Gurovich, who presented a wonderful pastry demonstration, showcasing her skill, creativity and wealth of industry experience.

Our second day at @menlynmaine for @italy_in_town was every bit as delizioso as the first! From fresh pasta and panini to cannoli and tiramisù, our students brought their skills, energy and passion for Italian cuisine to every plate.

More than just a weekend of incredible food, Italy in Town gave our students the opportunity to take their training beyond the classroom — working alongside our chefs, serving the public, developing valuable hands-on skills and experiencing the energy of a real culinary environment.

Two days. Plenty of pasta. New skills. Unforgettable experience!🇮🇹

Grazie, Italy in Town, for having us!
